There should just be one day a week that everything is cheap like this. That way everything is inexpensively available to everyone all the time. It would essentially remove all value from the game, and stop all of these economy problems.

Think of it as the doctor telling you to come right in and not making you wait for three months like they usually do.

At least Ectos are back up to their value. Good job ANET for blessing the few that got all their ectos at appauling low prices.
I dunno, i just wish people would stop trying to make every game into a non-functional economics simulator. This is not what GW is designed to do and trying to justify actions because people are trying to make it work like one isnt valid either.

The patch is indeed very very good
but the reset was EXTREMELY BAD imho
I wonder why they didn't fixed a minimun price for expensive things (ectos, shards, sup vigor etc, 100-300 gold was ridiculous), i think the result should be the same, but few and less richer people

ArenaNet caused those spasms of insanity. If they had properly tested their changes before implementing them, we wouldn't have had these spasms in the first place. To continue the analogy, medicine typically doesn't get used on human beings until it is incredibly thoroughly tested to work and not cause unacceptable side-effects. A gaming company doesn't have such important responsibilities, but they have responsibilities concerning their own game just the same. This isn't "listening to the community", this is setting right what they did wrong.

If you choose to just implement a system without testing, you should be very alert to either roll back to the old system at the first sign of an issue, or have a team ready to address that issue straight away. It only takes one day of a broken system to cause significant damage to the economy (the random price fluctuations causing black dyes to suddenly be bought for 25k+, a select few suddenly get rich quick). And we're not talking just a couple of days in this instance.

You realise the patch was not put in place to lower prices, but to address discrepancies with the buy/sell price ratio (whether or not that will work is yet to bee seen). Any long-term changes in prices will be due to the fact that the flaws in the traders' algorithms will no longer be warping the economy, or speculators pushing prices higher than their natural level (which will sort itself out naturally over time).

Thank you ANet for listening and recognizing there was an issue, and for trying to do something about it! Keep up the good work!

There're good and there're bad intentions. There're good and there're bad executions. This one was definitely in the good intentions category, but the execution was poor, poor... I mean it can hardly come as a surprise that people would hoard like hell. Was it necessary to reset the prices totally? Can't be... But even if it was it would have been better to stop the game for 30min (pre-announced of course) and let A-net nudge the prices up to somewhat reasonable levels.

I don't know, personally I don't care that much (ok, would have loved to get two sup vigor cheap, but it's not that critical) and I don't blame the ones that took advantage. But man, it gotta suck for the ones that have spent hours upon hours farming and missed out. I guess it's like in real life, some just hit the jackpot without deserving it. Just sad it has to be the same way in a game...

Again: great change, but very very poor execution

There are a ton of things out of stock now from runes to materials. I'm glad I bought in bulk when I did.

I think the problem is that its across ALL the servers, American, Korea, and European.

So, with HUNDREADS of thousands of people buying the same thing....

You get the idea.

i got some stuff, but i admit, they should have had the obvious stuff like ecto and shards still kept around 3-5k i mean that stuff is supposed to be rare to get the most coveted armor. that stuff is meant to be speacial. now, little timmy log into his game with 10k in all and in minutes made more money than the hardcore players who dedicated 200+ hours to getting 1,000k and enough ecto to make the fissure armor. The update will help. But at least have kept the obvious stuff in place. I would love to see ppl who have 700 Ectos have the purchased rfunded in gold of what they paid. the vigor and supeior absorption tooo....maybe the top 10 most sought after items which any GW player knows by heart.

oh well, damage has been done.

you my good sir are the one who is confused, i know very well how the econ works, people just don't understand that limited stock + constant buyers + low sellers = high prices, aka: Back to square one

so please make sure you know who you are taking to before you post, or i will have to prove you wrong time and time again...

Looks to me like no matter what Anet does it can't keep these monkeys happy, they have alreay proven that they listen and care about us as players, and we as players (well most of us) have showed we don't care about that and we just want more, more, more right now...

I'm pleased with the fix. No, I didn't make tons of money off the market, or anything like that. Heck, I haven't even sold anything today. I did, however, buy a large amount of tanned hides and bones so that I could craft my very first piece of 15k armor for my Necromancer. Once I get some more Elonian Leather (the trader sold out after I bought 7 of them), I can get one of the other pieces crafted. Then, it's off to save a further 15K for the third piece. And that's pretty much all I need...until I buy armor for my Mesmer

Most of my money has come from materials trading. I had a bunch (well, about 74 pieces) of steel saved up (all obtained from salvage), and the "sell" price finally peaked 200gp ea. last night, so I sold 60 of them. Made a healthy chunk of cash even before the fix. Now, I'm waiting for parchment to top 100gp ea again.

And now, with the fix in place, if I really need cash I can sell my two (!) black dyes that I've found, and they'll actually be worth something.

The most hideously sad thing about this thread, and the cluster of minds that agree with it out there in the world, is that I saw it coming before the fix existed. People have been mundanely screaming about the economy problems from day friggin one, problems which, I am smug to say, never affected me, my guild, nor appeared before my sight, and now that they have actually sat down and coded in some fixes, the inanity hits the ceiling once again.

I have heard the saying "you cannot please everyone all the time" before, but this is an all time low for decency and common RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOING (yeah I know it red engines out LMAO) sense.

Have a nice day, until you have something NEW to whine, bitch, and pick scabs about, things like "why can't I not be a boss monster?"

*eyeroll*

Anet could please people if the comunity actualy knew what they wanted, but it is a sad fact that they do not... its nice to see other people understand the current state of whats going on, and see that Guild Wars is not about money or fow armor.. sadly not all have seen the light yet

Why is everyone so needy? that is the one question that i would like to be answered (with out somone saying, "Anet has to give us free updates, its their job")

as for new things to whine about... how about nothing, people should be greatful for what they have or stop playing.. and not make a lame topic about why the are doing so

Should be could be would be. If everyone shared the same goals world peace would've been here hundreds of years ago. The point is, people don't agree on what they want. What I want may not be the same thing as what you want, but I know why I want it, and it is important to me.

It may seem like everyone's needy, but often it's different people who find different faults. That's the way a comminuty discussion works.

Everyone is just jealous. I didn't get in on the sale and to be honest I am a little bummed but I cant really blame those that did. If I were in their position, I would have done the same thing. Anet changed the traders wonderfully! Its just the reset of prices that was unnecessary and stupid.

Well its not just people disagreeing with eachother, it seems people don't know what they want themselves. Everyone was saying "fix the econ" and when they do half of the people shouting that for the past week is all like "way to screw us over Anet"... they should be like "Thank you Anet, you care, but we are seem to have messed up the econ again, oh well i guess we as players, the ones who screwed it up should fix it now"

I don't mind people disagreeing with eachother, thats perfectly normal and can some times help figure out what would be best for the game, but when they disagree with themself and blame Anet for what clearly is not their fault (give me one reason why people buying 300 ectos has anything to do with Anet... tell me?), thats just the point of no return

However i guess some people find it hard to see past their own needs
